4. THE WEDDING CEREMONY
The enclosed information outlines the format of the wedding ceremony and vows that are exchanged.  We like to make each ceremony distinctively “yours”.  We are receptive to ideas for readings, music, vows and other resources that you would like to have included as part of your ceremony.

The central focus of any wedding is the commitment that a couple makes to each other, and your vows should emphasize the nature of that covenant.

6. FEES

The Church Council of the Church has a policy that $425.00 be paid by the wedding party to cover all fees for a wedding in the Kitimat United Church. This $425.00 fee will cover all expenses for the church wedding including: minister, organist, sound operator, use of sanctuary.  Whether a fee or a gift is given to the soloist, if you wish a soloist, depends largely upon whether he or she is a friend of the bridal couple or their families.  A suitable gift is most appropriate if it is a friend.

8. PHOTOGRAPHS

Since a Church wedding is a Service of Worship, no pictures with flashes are to be taken during the Ceremony.  Pictures may be taken of the entrance of the bridal party, during the signing of the register in the Sanctuary following the wedding, and as the wedding party leave.

With new fast film and telescopic camera lenses, pictures without flash, may be taken of the ceremony from the back of the Church.

Video taping should be done in a quiet and tasteful manner.  We suggest that the person who tapes your wedding, attend your rehearsal to become familiar with our building and ceremony.

9. FLORAL DECORATIONS

Flowers are not required for the Sanctuary for a wedding; but if flowers are left from a wedding in the Sanctuary they will be used for the Church services on Sunday. Thereafter they will be taken to Multi-Level Care at the hospital, where residents appreciate and enjoy floral arrangements from a wedding.

10. CONFETTI AND DECORATIONS

We appreciate the thoughtfulness of wedding parties in not throwing  confetti, rice or bird seed at the church, and in preventing damage to the furnishings when decorating the church. Blowing bubbles on the wedding party, while they are outside following the service, is now popular. It also has the advantage of both being festive, and problem-free for clean up.
