The shorter office hours this week are because of the minister leaving for the General Meeting of BC Conference in Vancouver.

PENTECOST SUNDAY is today. This marks the end of the Great 50 Days of Easter. The Season After Pentecost lasts from now until Advent; the liturgical colour is green and the theme is spiritual growth. The first Sunday after Pentecost is called Trinity Sunday (June 3). BC CONFERENCE GENERAL MEETING will be held at UBC in Vancouver, from May 31 to June 3rd. Attending from our pastoral charge will be Ruth Brady, FayEllen McFarlane, Larry Scott. Minister is leaving on Wednesday, May 30 and returning Monday, June 4.
CONFERENCE SUNDAY is June 3. Our pianist will be Robin Chang and our Worship Leader will be Sarah Wyatt.
NEXT COMMUNION will be on Anniversary Sunday, June 10. This marks the date of the inauguration service of The United Church of Canada, June 10, 1925 in Toronto.
PICNIC SUNDAY is happening June 17 at Lakelse at 11 am. This year it is the turn of Knox United Church in Terrace, to lead. Use Furlong Bay entrance. Service at amphitheatre. A little bug spray may add to the comfort of the event! Bring food, eating utensils, lawn chairs.
GENERAL COUNCIL meets August 12-18 at Carleton University in Ottawa. This event happens every three years. There are two Moderator nominees from BC - Rev. Richard Bott and Rev. Gary Patterson. Commissioners to General Council will be chosen at the General Meeting of BC Conference; there is an equal number of clergy and lay commissioners.
SUMMER CHURCH HOURS for the United Church and Presbyterian Church: Sunday, July 1, Canada Day – Worship at 9:30 a.m. at First United Church Sunday, July 8, 15, 22, 29 will be at 10:00 a.m. at First United Church. Sunday, August 5,12,19,26 will be at 10:00 a.m. at Kitimat Presbyterian Church.
